Fussy cat?

We adopted our new cat on Thursday and so far he's really settling in!
He has dry food out all day and then a sachet of wet food in the evening plus plenty of water and treats.
My question is- he doesn't seem to be eating his dry food? He eats some but there's always some left. He also scratches at the food cupboard and wolf's down his wet food?
Should I give him more wet food? Or will he eat when he's hungry?

Are you giving the same dry food he had before? Maybe they don't like it. I give wet food 2 or 3 times a day and leave dry out all the time. Mine like a mix of thrive dry (90%meat) and purizon (70%meat).

Yep it's the same as he had before?
Do I need to worry about him not eating or will he eat if he's hungry?

I would maybe add in more wet food as they get moisture from it and aren't usually that good at drinking water

I’d be giving him at least one more pouch of wet. He is only just settling in with you, and is clearly hungry.
Cats can be stubborn little buggers and will only eat a food they dislike if they really are starving. Maybe he had to eat the dry food before because there was no alternative.
Try him with bits of chicken etc as well.

He obviously likes wet food, so give him more of that. Some cats go for wet or dry or both, like mineGrin

He looks very pleased he's getting 2 pouches a day now- although he still tries it on for more!

Why recommendations for treats? We've tried dreamies but he's not interested - prefers meaty sticka from the co-op!

Also how long would you leave it to start trying other foods?

Sunflower, my two newbies came to me eating 1.5 pouches a day plus dry. Within a week they're on 3.5 pouches and a little dry. They eat every morsel. I haven't noticed they're tummies expanding and as we have two who are constantly active, I guess they need it. If he's not really into the dry, look at the feeding guide - every cat is different but it might give you an idea of whether more would be good.

Mine like cosma snackies which are freeze dried bits of meat. I get them from zooplus
