Cat scratching us while playing

We just adopted a two year old cat, she's very sweet and lovely and she has settled in well. But she has a habit of biting and scratching us while playing. We are trying to encourage her to play with toys but just tonight she stalked and "attacked" our DD who is now very upset. She did this to DH who thought it was funny but because of our DC this is not ideal behaviour. Is there anything we can do to make her change this? Ta

It’s probably play, excitement and overstimulation rather than aggression.

Try using toys on a stick like ‘da bird’ to exhaust her and appeal to her hunting instincts without risking being scratched. Laser toys also good, and my cats have gone wild for a mechanical toy that has a piece of moving string!

Make sure she has plenty of time to chill out and spaces away from the DC that are hers where she won’t be disturbed. Simple things like an arrangement of empty shelves work well.

Yes to toys where your arms are out of reash

You could also 'tsk' her when she does this
