I've found these on our kitten, we picked her up Monday having been told she'd been deflea'd & wormed. We got her from a local farm that my mil told me had kittens. There were no signs of them on Monday but now she's got loads of them!

I've given her flea tablets but I'm now not sure they are fleas... anyone any idea?

No idea but that's not a flea. Can you put something next to it for scale?

dementedpixie · 01/09/2018 14:10

Doesn't look like a flea. Has she been checked by a vet? Hope you didn't use an over the counter flea treatment as it's better to get vet one

CottonSock · 01/09/2018 14:12

Is it an ear wig?

dementedpixie · 01/09/2018 14:16

I wonder if it's cat lice

Dollymixture22 · 01/09/2018 16:58

I got my kitten from a farm. You need a different type of flea and worm treatment because of the different bugs etc they can come into contact with. Have you taken her to the vet yet? Best to have a first check up and jabs within the first coupe of days.

Make an appointment in Monday - not sure what that is but she will need to be treated

Wolfiefan · 01/09/2018 16:59

Don't give a kitten anything over the counter. Most are ineffective and some are dangerous.
No. Doesn't look like a flea.

You also need to be careful with small kittens - the vet will weigh her to check the exact dosage.

I'd bath her, they'll climb up and you can pick them off.

Dodie66 · 01/09/2018 17:37

How big is it?

Aprilshowersinaugust · 01/09/2018 17:39

Bath in Fairy and get in there with a nit comb!!

Thanks for replies, I'd already given her the flea treatment. It seems they've dropped off as I've checked her all over and can't find anything. My friend's a vet and says it's not a louse. They were crawling all over her face!

I'd already made a vet appt for Monday to get her chipped and checked as I thought a week at home first would be best to help her settle in.

I don't have anything to scale, but I've got a picture of it in the kitchen paper if that helps?
