Complementary food alongside complete wet food?

One of my cats is a very fussy bugger. He loves shredded chicken but only the complementary ones (appleaws, or hilife etc). I bought tons of the sainsbury delicious range, but he will barely touch it. No idea why, other than the slight bit of jelly on one and not the other.

He goes through phases with regular wet food, and sometimes won’t eat anything but the plain shredded chicken.

The guidelines always state to feed complementary with dry food, but naturally he won’t touch that either so I’m wondering if it’s ok with complete wet food instead? I can’t seem to find anything online. I’m guessing it would be ok, but as they only state dry food I’m not sure if there’s a difference in nutrition or something.

Yes, absolutely fine. The key point is making sure the main source of food is a complete one. Infact, it’s better to exclude dry food completely from a cats diet so no issues there.

Yes, I do this with mine.

Have you tried him on Thrive chicken wet food? It's shredded chicken type like the others you mention but it's complete.

I was going to suggest Thrive (our lad is a fan). You can bulk buy online but vets often sell it if you want to try a tin or two.

I’ve been looking at Thrive, but considering how often they like to change their minds I’ve been put off buying it in packs (it’s not stocked anywhere near me to be able
to pick up a few tins here and there). I think I might just bite the bullet and order a load to have in stock (and probably give it away when all 3 turn their noses up!Grin).

I get Thrive from Ocado or Fetch - they sell single cans or 6 packs.
