We adopted a rescue cat (six month old boy - neutered, vaccinated and toilet trained) but we already have a 4 year old dog. Dog is excitable but never showed a much interest in cats.
When we were taking the cat into the house, the dog smelled the carrier and the cat hissed and tried to claw the dog. The second time they’ve seen each other the dog has barked and tried to get to the cat.
Now the cat is very hesitant of the dog (understandable) and the dog is pretty nervous around the cat.
Is there any way they will get along?
