New cat is a disappointment.

After 3 years if feeling smug that the toddler girls use all of their five beds. It would appear that Cheddar doesn't use beds or cushions. This is such a disappointment to me. I will have no reason to buy more beds or another teepee from my favourite company.
Love her really though!

Ha - I opened that prepared to be sad and a bit angry!

I have bought three beds for my kitten and she sleeps on the sofa or on my pillow!!

Still love her though

Fluffycloudland77 · 21/08/2018 19:04

You just haven't found the right bed yet. You need to buy more.

Allergictoironing · 21/08/2018 19:05

See, your problem is that you now have a cat who knows how to Cat. On the plus side, she may decide that she likes playing with cat type toys so you can spend all that money on new laser pens & fishing pole type things - that she gets bored with in a couple of weeks so you need new ones to keep her interested.

abbsisspartacus · 21/08/2018 19:08

Mine stole my box to sleep in

Toddlerteaplease · 21/08/2018 19:29

Oo good thinking @Fluffycloudland77!

Mine hate beds with a passion and so far have pee'd in every bed I have brought them much preferring to sleep on a thick vet bed on the worktop so have decided to leave them to it don't want to try and clean up wee filled beds any longer

Murinae · 21/08/2018 19:45

Mine love the large cleo one that hangs off the radiator and the tall xxl barrel one. They hate any beds that are on the floor

She's also a cat that sleeps soundly for more than 30 seconds

Your own bed is probably the best bed you can offer!

Toddlerteaplease · 21/08/2018 20:52

Probably right. But nice to see the ones I've brought appreciated! At least the toys are now being played with. Really weird to have a cat that cats in the house!

In all the 38 years I've had cats, not one of them (7 of them were rescue, 1 was feral) ever used cat beds. I tried round, pyramid, teepee, igloo types, and always ended up giving the beds to RSPCA. Blankets, chairs, MY bed, the computer chair, even desk, have all been slept on by the cats.

Funny creatures, but I have adored each and every one.

Vinorosso74 · 21/08/2018 21:07

I wondered what this was going to be about too! Am pleased it's only because she isn't interested in beds.
Cats are funny beings, old Vinocat only slept in her bed when it was cold. She did like blankets.
The hooligan likes snuggling on towels and chews them making a horrible squeaky sound with them on his teeth.

Toddlerteaplease · 21/08/2018 21:15

Fear not everyone. I am completely besotted with her in every other respect!

Fatty used to love the texture of towels. It was the only way I could get her on my knee at first.

My boy sleeps in his cat bed but only because he doesn't know it's a cat bed, he'd be devastated if he knew!

I have reliable info that Slaves themselves make very good cat beds....We bought a v expensive cat bed that was sniffed at and wee'd on until I accidentally kicked it over towards the radiator.

And turned the heating on next month..

Well that was the trick!
Could.Not.Get the little sod out of it. The warmth was the key. Slave laps came back into fashion within 3 minutes of the heating going off 😂
So I turned off the heating stuck layers on and my lap was always occupied except when DP was within reach of Gruber

EachandEveryone · 22/08/2018 23:54

You need one of these round scratch pads mine fight over sleeping in it

New cat is a disappointment.

Only my bed will do

Ours never touched a bed we bought, tried all types. Cardboard boxes or under the duvet with us only. Then on a whim we picked up a fake fur lined bed from Aldi for like £8, came home to find both the older two in it. We spent a week with one staring at the other sleeping in the bed until they moved, then immediately hopping in to claim it, causing the other one to stare longingly at their lost spot. In the end we went back and picked up a second one. The baby still doesn't want to know though. Only the best human beds for her.

GoodHeavensNoImAChicken · 23/08/2018 01:22

It’s funny but over the many many years our cats had lots of beds and they all eventually took to them. They’d get them covered in fur, god it was everywhere!

Now we’re down to just one puss (we miss her brother very much!) we bought her a new bed recently and she glared at it on the first day and that was that. Zero interest. Next step will be putting her favourite blanket on it to encourage her. I feel awful when I see her sleeping on the stairs/wherever she fancies that looks so cold and uncomfortable but hey she’s got plenty of other options if she wanted them!

FeckingFeckers · 23/08/2018 01:40

I had a cat growing up that slept on plastic carrier bags Grin he was a little freak

abbsisspartacus · 23/08/2018 08:51

The best cat bed I had was one I made step one was buying fluffy fabric and claiming it was mine the cats of course "stole" it off me then I took an old pillow and covered it fat boy loved it I cried when I threw it away after he died

Lancelottie · 24/08/2018 20:08

Mine like table mats and mouse mats. Laptops (electronic rather than human) are also acceptable.

Doobigetta · 26/08/2018 20:23

Mine likes to sleep on my laptop bag. She prefers the laptop not to be in the bag while she sleeps on it. The laptop lives on the sideboard now, bagless.
