Kitten acting very strangely day 2 after spaying?

Hello, our wee kitten Dora who is four and a half months was spayed on Friday. She was angry about her collar (!) and wobbly at first but yesterday she ate, drank, crapped, was sleepy but loving and fairly active when awake. She did also jump up on furniture a fair few times (I tried keeping her in puppy crate but she just started climbing that!).

Last night she slept on the bed with us. Today she is very lethargic and sleeping the whole day. She's also walking strangely low to the floor and stretching her back legs. She is eating, taking medicine and treats but right now she's hiding under the bed.

I've checked her wound and it's not seeping, red or too hot (though the shaved part of the skin is a little warm overall).

We do have insurance so we can take her to the emergency vet but it's far away and I'm about to go away on a work trip tomorrow (partner will stay with Dora) and trying to sort a million things before - so don't want to go all the way there for them to say she's just recovering (could be worse though - last time they charged £200 to put a thermometer up her arse Grin.

Any more experienced cat owners who can offer advice?

She might have ripped a stitch or something inside as cats are not supposed to jump for 7 days after spaying. Best to take her to a vet as there might be something inside that is hurt or torn.

If you have insurance pls do take her to a vet asap.

That doesn't sound right at all. Cats don't normally show any odd behaviour after spaying. Is she still wearing a cone? I would take that off to see if it helps. I would also call the emergency vet. Tell them what you've told us and let them advise.

Thanks guys. I've called the emergency vet and am waiting for my husband to get home. She's perked up now (typically) so I'll keep a close eye on her. Poor wee thing!

Oh I'm glad she's perked up. Jumping around shouldn't cause an issue. We don't insist just=spayed cats go on cage rest, so we expect them to jump.
