Not eating

My 18 month old seems to have gone off her food. She's eating very little at the moment. I'm starting to worry.

She spent a week at the cattery and then came home last Sunday. Since then although she behaves as if she wants food e.g hanging around the kitchen and looking interested when the food cupboard is opened. Once the food is down she sniffs it, eats a tiny bit and then leaves it.

It has been a week now. At first I thought it was due to the heat but the temperature has been much lower recently.

She's a small cat anyway but she's definitely lighter than she was.

Have you tried with something really tasty to see if she is really not eating or if she's become picky?

Cooked chicken, a bit of tuna, or a premium wet food like Encore?

If not eating, then a vet visit is in order.

Definitely time for the vet. Hopefully nothing is wrong but a week is long enough to wait.

Sadly I’ve always had very bad news when my cats have behaved like this but they were much older. Given her age, it could be something like a tooth problem - easily resolved.

Did the cattery give her their own food? If so, check what they feed and try that - it might be she prefers the other food. If not, then I'd get her checked out just to make sure she hasn't picked up something.

Thanks for the replies. She does still enthusiastically eat her treats such as those meat sticks and the cat yoghurts.
