Kitten not eating much...

Our kitten is 16 weeks, we started off giving him Whiskas wet food pouches which he was eating. Never ate much but would have probably 1.5 pouches a day and we always have dry food out for him which he will eat but not loads!

He stopped eating it and just eating the jelly, I read online this is usually because the meat quality is bad. So I tried him with Felix, he turned his nose up at this. On Sunday we bought Webbox Natural which he seemed interested in, but now is back to just eating jelly.

He's still pooing (probably twice a day and seems to be quite a lot) and weeing. We always have fresh water out but he doesn't have much, we always have fresh kitten milk out which he does like but I wouldn't say he has lots.

The dry food he eats is only Whiskas, I know he should have better quality but I've tried him with them and he won't go near them! As you can see he is costing us a fortune in pet food!

What can I do? I did think about the vets but then I thought if he's pooing surely he's okay? He's due to be neutered next friday.

Give him some raw mince. That's what my cats have along with some (not a lot) good quality dry food.

Small pieces of cooked shredded chicken

The raw food thing worries me and I don't know why?

We've given him shredded cooked chicken, I've given him tuna and he's had a bit of salmon. I thought us giving him these as treats (usually at weekend) is why he's being like he is with cat food expecting him to be given nice treats.

I'd be the same, cat food looks horrible after chicken, tuna and salmon, we stopped feeding our kitty cat tinned food, you can make your own meat jelly.

It only worries you because we're trained not to eat it ourselves but cats are different OP and it's a very healthy way for them to eat. A bit of raw mince is like manna to a cat...they love it. Supplement with biscuits for the extra vitamins. My cat is almost a year old and has also been having raw chicken necks which she adores. Smashes them up with her tiny little fangs. Grin
