How old would you say this kitten is?

I had a little kitten hiding away in my shed a couple of weeks ago and she’s been here since. No microchip and still actively seeking the owner. She settled well so don’t want to move her on elsewhere unless I absolutely have to.
I took her to the vets as they suspected that she was 10 weeks old, making her 12 weeks now. But I’m convinced she’s older. Her behaviour has also changed considerably today as she’s constantly waving her tail, showing her rear end and I also spotted a male cat trying to get into my house Confused So I’m suspecting she may be in season?
I’m not an experienced cat owner at all, so don’t really have a clue.

No idea but what a cutie!

Needlemaker · 24/07/2018 19:45

Could be anywhere between 14 to 20 weeks I'd say any picks of her stood up or with something to compare size to? They can come into season at 4 months so if you can't find an owner time to spay her

mimibunz · 24/07/2018 19:46

She could easily be 6 months and in season. Call the vet and ask if they can spay her now.

mimibunz · 24/07/2018 19:47

What are you calling her? She’s lovely.

gamerchick · 24/07/2018 19:49

I would say about 6 months and if shes in season she needs spaying. The racket they make when horny!

BubblesPip · 24/07/2018 19:52

That’s the best photo I can get atm Blush She’s bonkers!
I may have called her Nala and I may be a little bit in love Grin

She's beautiful! I'd say she's around 16-20 weeks.

Vinorosso74 · 24/07/2018 20:04

Definitely keep her inside last thing she needs is to get pregnant. It sounds like she could be in heat so time for spaying.
She is a beautiful kitten.

thecatneuterer · 24/07/2018 20:21

Agree at around 16-20 weeks and she is old enough to spay now. Also agree that you should keep her in until you can get it done.

BubblesPip · 24/07/2018 20:25

Thanks all Smile I’ll be keeping her in and booking in for a spay asap. Does that mean I can claim her as my own Wink

It certainly looks that way. She's been a lucky girl.

Fluffycloudland77 · 24/07/2018 21:59

Yes, you name them you keep them.

If she wasn't fed well or is just naturally dinky she could well be over 12 weeks.

Waving ones fanjo around is definitely a sign of heat, so is yowling and you do not forget that sound.

recklessruby · 24/07/2018 22:03

Aww she's lovely. Probably around 4 months maybe 5. Defo can come into season. I d keep her too to be honest. She looks like she's made herself at home ❤
