So, I have a beautiful 6 month old female Maine coon who meows a lot and is extremely loud, she is being spayed next week. My question is do you think she shouts a lot because she is in season? I had read that as Maine coons mature later than other breeds their season normally starts when they are 10 months plus.

At the moment she is an indoor cat and may well stay that way, she goes into the garden with us and I also walk her on harness, I was wondering if she wants to get out!! What are people's thoughts on house cats? I used to say never!! my vet recommends it. I am really torn. We have flat cats at the Windows but it's hard opening doors. We did lose her for 48 hours so am scared of that again.

My 2 (litter brother & sister) are indoor only, and are very healthy and seem happy. Flat cats mean I can have windows open all day with no worries (essential in this weather), and I'm lucky in that I have a porch at the front with a second door, and a sunroom at the back so I have "airlocks" for both main doors.

It seems to be mostly the UK that is precious about cats "needing" to be able to roam free - countries like the USA and Australia are very much in favour of indoor only cats.

Yes she is gobby, it is quite funny at times not so much at 4am though. We have flat cats at the Windows and I have just purchased some more. allergic do your cats ever go in the garden? My gut is telling me to keep her indoors, but I am fed up with people giving me their opinion on why she should roam free.

I adopted as a recent neutered breeding queen mine age 4 a few months ago. Breeder said not to let her out but she has been going in the garden and more recently off roaming.

I wasn't sure about it but wanted her to be fulfilled and have a happy life with us. All was fine until she managed to cut herself on a nail or some glass or something Hmm

now she's been indoors for a week and I'm wary about letting her out again when she's healed, she really wants to though bless 😕

I'm going to harness train her and just let her in the garden only again and then play it by ear I think

We cat proofed our garden after my maine coon had a car accident. Tbf he isnt the brightest button and he is extremely clumsy. He has only got out twice in the year its been cat proofed!

My half maine coon is very vocal. She has been done but will meow loudly all evening. She does go outside and is a predator, brings back birds mice and eats them whole, she's very protective of food. Very loving and likes a cuddle.

Only have this photo of her sleeping on my phone, she's quite small but has the lovely pointed ears :)
