Cats using flowerbed as litter tray

Hi everyone! My two cats have been going outside for the past 1.5 months and are absolutely loving it. However, they’ve also started using my flowerbed as a litter tray (I didn’t train them to do this - it just seemed to come naturally). They tend to bury their mess under a thin layer of soil. My question is - do your cats use your flowerbed as a toilet and if so, do you scoop up all the mess as you would in a litter tray? I’m relieved they’re using our garden and not the neighbours’, but would probably rather they were still going in their litter tray rather than the garden. At least there are no nasty surprises that way!

My mum just gave up and let the cat use her herb garden. She didn't scoop it as it'll break down on its own.

Thanks Toddler! I’m wondering whether placing the litter tray on the flowerbed could work - or if they’ll just continue to use the soil anyway!

My cats do this!

In the end we had to give them their very own plant pot and put large gravel on all the others to stop them going everywhere.

We do scoop out the poop though and change the soil every few weeks as it starts to smell!

Can you make a designated area of the flower bed a litter tray with sand/litter? Then at least it won't be near the flowers :) that's if they find the new designated area attractive enough to use...

Mine does this, I just go round once a week and scoop it up. I think it's worse when it's so dry and it's harder to dig the soil and no rain to break it down/wash it away.
