Can anyone recommend a good cat flap that reads microchip?

We would like to get a cat flap for our two cats, and are thinking that the best kind would be one that reads their chip and only lets them in, and not other cats. Any good recommendations, or guide to which one to get?

I have used sure flap ones with great success. I don’t actually have one at the moment now as my ladies are too old and now get a door service! (They are only out when I’m home and the yard is totally secure). If I had younger cats I’d get one of the ones that connects to a hub and then I could use the app to see if they have been home or not.

Beetle76, at the moment we let ours out because we wanted to know wher they were as kittens, but I think they are ready for independence now. I don’t know about ones that connect to anything, we are a novice pet family! Do they have a built in camera, or a sensor etc?

Sure flap are meant to be very good and reliable, know lots of vets and vet nurses with them fitted, though don't have one myself.

We have had a SureFlap and a PetPorte. One is battery powered, one connects to the mains (can't remember which is which) but they were both excellent.

I’m not sure if there is one with an integrated camera - but I have cat-people friends who have pointed a nest (or similar) camera at the cat flap to monitor the comings and goings
