Poo on fur

We have two kittens and last night I could smell poo but couldn't track it down. Anyway we discovered that one of the kittens had poo on his fur just above his tail.
So I got as much as I could off by wiping with a baby wipe and sort of hoped he would wash the area. Put them to bed last night as normal.
Anyway this morning it's less than it was but still there. Any advice? Should I bath him?

Give him a bath use just warer or animal shampoo.

I ran some tepid water in the bath (basically a puddle) with a bit of cat shampoo. I tried to do the scruff of the neck thing but he didn't go limp he still struggled. Anyway got the sh1t off. He's OK and despite being extremely cross he didn't bite or hurt me. He is definitely not talking to me though
