Fur baby being put to sleep

Handhold needed. My beloved cat is being put to sleep on Monday. We've had her for 14 years after adopting her at age 4 and the thought of her leaving us is breaking my heart. It has been once of those things that shouldn't be a shock as she has been very ill but part of me held out hope for a magic tablet to make her better. I don't know how my other cat wil react to losing her (albeit grumpy) best friend and how to explain to my 2 year old that his cat isn't coming home. Please someone tell me it will be okay.

Oh, losing a beloved pet is the worst - I'm so sorry. Let yourself grieve and don't be ashamed of it. Xx

It's a very difficult time and so hard to take care of. I hope everything goes a well as it can. She's reached a great age. Will you be staying with her whilst she is PTS? My lovely puss was PTS last year at the age of 20. I stayed with him whilst my lovely vet took care of everything. I didn't think I'd manage it, but I did and am so glad for that. It's not an easy thing to do but I found being with him and stroking him the end was the least I could do.

My other cat didn't show any signs of missing him, but they weren't close, so maybe that's why. I did bring her to him to say goodbye before we set off to the vet, but she didn't have a clue what I was going on about, obviously.

Sorry you're going through this Flowers

It's really horrible, sorry. Yeah you always expect them to get better against the odds.

I crouched down and held my cat's paw when she went 2 days ago. It's really not easy as you love their little furry selves and some people don't comprehend what it might feel like.

Best of luck.

I'm sorry. It is heartbreaking. I dreaded being in the room when we had our old girl PTS. However, the vet and the nurse were so kind. They gave us time on our own before and after and I had her on my lap. It was all very calm and peaceful.

Also, it of course will be alright it just does not feel like it now, wrt your 2 year old just be as honest as they need, I tried to hold it together for my DC but I couldn't so we all grieved together, mine are older though so somewhat different.

Sending you hugs OP, it's both the hardest and kindest thing you can do. 💐
