Flea treatment

My cat doesn't have fleas, but I want to treat her before she goes into a cattery next month to protect against picking up any there. What is the best flea treatment to use these days? She's quite small and 15 years old, if that makes any difference. I seem to remember reading that one particular make had become less effective.

Get one from the vet. I use stronghold plus and have also had advocate which are both prescription treatments. Avoid frontline, Bob Martin, etc

Do you not regularly treat them then? I use treatments monthly

I use advocate. Frontline is the one that's become ineffective. Check with the cattery what their rules are with vaccinations etc - they usually want to see evidence that they're all up to date

I use Bravecto as it only has to be done 3 monthly and covers ticks as well

Thanks everyone. I haven't done it for a while as she stopped going outside when next door got a large lively dog. Having said that, the dog has recently moved, and she's venturing into the garden again, so another reason to start it up again. All fine on the vaccination front - thank you Orchid
