Novelty litter trays

I am bringing home my girl in two weeks (excited is an understatement!) and have been looking at all the latest litterbox gadgets to make the toilet process less unpleasant, such as self-cleaning, hooded, odourless etc. Does anyone have experience with any of these novelty gizmos, and could let me know which are good and which aren't?

Many years ago I had two cats and a self cleaning electronic rake through super duper litter tray.

Then I acquired a third cat who suffered from frequent bouts of diarrhoea.

It was not pretty.

It was not pleasant.
