I'm just wondering if anyone's had any experience of pro-kolin+ doing the opposite of its job, and giving their cat diarrhoea instead of making their poo more formed? My 9 week old kitten had a bit of blood in his poo so took him to the vet, who gave me pro-kolin and two packets of chicken and rice. She checked him over completely and she thinks he has an inflamed colon hence the blood. But although his poo was formed, it was a bit soft at the end, why is why she gave me the pro-kolin.
So I gave him 1ml on weds night, and he was fine, the next day was a nicely formed poo. Then the next morning I gave it to him but it was a battle. And about 20 mins later he did a very runny poo. Over the day he did two more normalish poops, as before so formed but soft, and then I gave him his next dose. Again it was a bit of a battle, and he went a bit funny, and 15 minutes later, another runny poo with blood. And then he was completely back to normal.
So I'm not giving it to him anymore, and have boiled up some chicken so giving him that instead. He had a normalish poo this morning.
So, has this happened to anyone else? Could it have been the stress of me battling to give him the pro-kolin? Or could it be something else going on which means that it wouldn't work? He was wormed on Monday, he may well need to be again.
Any advice?
