I have a new next door neighbour, she seems lovely but has only lived there a few weeks so we don’t know her well. Her cat was run over and sadly didn’t make it yesterday, I spoke to her today and she was so upset. She’s on her own and I just felt so sad for her, would it be weird to take her some flowers round?

I think it would be a lovely thing to do.

OliveOrTwist · 21/06/2018 18:52

No I think that would be lovely.

Mari098 · 21/06/2018 18:52

No that would be very nice of you, though maybe don’t linger or push her talk about it, she may need a bit of space /time to grieve. Play it by ear. Still, it’s very kind of you to think about taking flowers.

That would be such a warm and kind thing to do. My neighbour gave me some flowers when my cat was killed by a driver. I was so touched and have never forgotten it.

I think that would be lovely. People don't always understand how upsetting it is to lose a pet.

Flowers are a lovely idea. Maybe a card as well? My vets do a very kind thing after an animal has to be PTS, they send a card out after a week or so, expressing their sympathy & sending kind thoughts. The manager tries to send a card with an appropriate picture on the front e.g. when my ginger tabby was PTS I received a card with a print of a beautiful ginger cat, I thought this was very thoughtful and a really personal touch

Our cat was hit by a car and killed only a few weeks ago and I was totally overwhelmed by how lovely our friends and neighbours were. We had nice cards, a bunch of flowers and just lovely gestures. I can't speak for anyone else but I felt embarrassed for how upset I felt (i think some people think, it's a bloody cat!) but those nice gestures really helped me to get through it.

You sound like a lovely person and whatever lovely thing you decide to do for them will be appreciated, I'm sure of it. Thanks

Thank you everyone, I’ll pop round with some tonight. I have 2 cats and I’d be devastated if anything happened to them so I just feel so sorry for her!

How did it go with your neighbour, IGiorni?
