He’s missing.

I feel sick. He went out at 7.30am yesterday and by 9am wasn’t responding to being called. He’s nearly 5 and never wanders very far (unlike his brother). Now it’s Sunday morning and no sign.

We’ve walked up and down calling him, walked the block and checked roadsides- hasn’t been run over. And asked neighbours to check houses, gardens, hidey holes and outbuildings. He’s a vocal cat and very friendly so he shouldn’t hide.

Am going into work to print leaflets and posters and will spend the day putting through letterboxes, lamposts and calling at local houses.

Not knowing where he is is the worst thing. His brother keeps calling and won’t settle.

What a worry. Any news?

Cheeseislife · 17/06/2018 13:11

Is he microchipped? Put a used litter tray outside in case the smell helps lure him home. I'd let the brother out now and then as he may help you find him (mine have done this when one got stuck down the side of a neighbours fence). Everything crossed he comes home soon Flowers

LucheroTena · 17/06/2018 15:10

Yes microchipped and neutered- I’ve reported to the chip database. Knocked on every door, checked all the surrounding streets and roadsides, put posters on lampposts and leafleted. No news yet. Am going to call petplan in the morning as have highest premium and they might pay for the pet search team.

No news at all and no sounds.

Problem is it’s so dense here with greenery everywhere, I can’t follow the other cat even if he were to find him.

Want2beme · 17/06/2018 15:17

Hope he's home with you soon.

somewheresorted · 17/06/2018 15:20

So sorry to hear this. Will keep everything crossed for you xxx

kocerhan3 · 17/06/2018 15:49

If you have a used litter box pop it outside the back door, they can smell it from miles away and it may draw him home quicker. Wishing you the best and a speedy return x

Shinesweetfreedom · 17/06/2018 15:53

Have you got a local Facebook missing page for your area.

LucheroTena · 17/06/2018 16:11

Thanks all. On local Facebook plus litter tray outside and bed on washing line to blow around scent.

Anyone have any experience of those pet detective agencies? I’d pay anything to get him home but need to know if reputable.

Some of this has already been suggested but this leaflet does have some useful tips. I do hope he comes hope safe soon.

He’s missing.
LucheroTena · 17/06/2018 16:28

Thanks Lindy2. We’ll do another search tonight. I have such a strong feeling he’s stuck inside a house or shed.

I’m tortured with thoughts of him being injured somewhere. Or trapped and hungry. Or stolen. I’m always telling people oh yes let them out, cruel to keep a cat inside. I get him in before it’s dark and only let them out when I’m at home. But maybe I am cruel letting him go out. Feel sick with worry and guilt.

Please try not to,panic op

Ours got through an old cat flap of someone's garage that was connected via a side door to,their kitchen.

A lady walked in to the garage in the morning to find our cat sitting looking at her, betbet had been in thee all night. Apparently the cat flap doesn't open outwards anymore, so she couldn't get out.

Dh walked around all the neighbours, to our surprise everyone knew and recognised her, and found out she has a friend and hunting partner 😒

The woman only found her about 1/2hr before he knocked on her door

LucheroTena · 17/06/2018 22:25

Thank you, I really hope he comes back. Most people were lovely, either dashing to gardens to look or inviting us to. A few I thought probably wouldn’t bother though.

He’s back! Must have been stuck in somewhere- the poor soul was very agitated and upset. He’s obviously been clawing to get out. Ate then slept on and off all day.

Oh bless so pleased op 😘

Lindy2 · 18/06/2018 19:48

I'm really pleased that all is well and he is safely home.

PunkrockerGirl59 · 18/06/2018 20:10

Yay! Lovely news.
PunkCat disappeared for just over 3 weeks. We did all the leafleting etc but are convinced that dcat got into a van when the opposite neighbours were having some work done.
We'd given up hope but a lovely lady saw him in her garden (over 3 miles away), lured him into her house and called the local vet. They came and fetched him and took him to the surgery and read his microchip.
It was a horrible 3 weeks but a wonderful ending.

BrokeAndBad · 18/06/2018 21:37

Bloody cats!! Glad he's home xxx
