Russian Blues

I’ve been told that Russian Blues are good cats for allergy sufferers? Has anyone found this to be the case? DH and the DCs (only 2 & 4) are keen to get a cat. I would also like a pet but unfortunately most cats bring me out with fluey symptoms.

Any thoughts on how I might test out the low allergy theory? Obviously I don’t want to get a cat before I am sure it won’t make me poorly. Also we don’t want a kitten so would be looking to rehome an adult cat. There often seems to be a few available on the breed rescue but would this be a good idea with such young children?

I know that some other cats are also low allergy but I’m not sure about a hairless cat or one of the very vocal cats - we don’t want an indoor cat and to be honest I just like a proper Moggie ( If they didnt make me sneeze...).
