Will it poison them??

So a friend was moving and gave me this big planter full of just standard long field type grasses and normal grass as she thought my cats would like it (they arent free roaming but i have built a massive catio for them).

I thought awesome!

But later on in the day i went to water the planter and realised there were chives in there. I know chives are part of the onion family so ripped them all out. I also spotter what looked like miniature onion bulbs (chive roots?! Wild garlic or something????) so i pulled those out too, but now im paranoid that amidst the tangle somewhere ive left a few chives in or a stray mini bulb or something and its going to poison my cats 😣

Do i need to get rid of the planter?

I think you’ll worry if you don’t. You can buy cat grass, or even better catnip.

I don't know the answer but was going to say the same as Fluffy. Get rid of it anyway and get cat grass.

Chives and all alliums(onion/garlic family) are poisonous to cats
I'd get rid personally and do a pp said buying catnip etc

You will worry and if are anything like my daft kits they will eat it even if don't think it tastes nice

I’ve had chives planted in pots for 2 years and my cat ignores them- he will have a good chomp on anything else in the garden though! I’ve spent a lot of time and effort making sure my garden has only cat friendly plants .... only for someone to point out that as he’s an outdoor cat,and regularly disappears on his catty adventures, he could be coming into contact with all kinds of toxic plants I’m not aware of 😳
I noticed today that every time I was touching a tomato plant in my garden he came up and bit me- he never bites! After some googling I discovered that the leaves of tomato plants and also green/ unripened tomatos can be toxic to cats if eaten. Who knew! I’ve decided he was trying protect me 😂

( on a side note I had many more tomato plants last year and Dcat totally ignored them- despite this I am now worried that he will decide to eat them and poison himself- even though he shows absolutely no interest I them unless I’m touching them 🙀)
