My beautiful girl has been killed

We are all devastated.
Our lovely oldie girl Poppy was killed on our front drive by a dog yesterday.
She was 15 and wobbly on her legs but still loved to sun herself on the front porch steps for a hour. Then she would come in the porch and ask to come in. We live on a quiet side road and have a lawn and drive.
A dog had got out from a few roads away and the owners were chasing it down the road. A neighbour saw it happen and the dog just went straight for her.
The owners were also v upset. We are so upset. We had loved her to bits for 14 years.
I feel sick that her lovely life ended like this. We have buried our best girl in the garden 😢😢

Oh how simply dreadful.
I don’t know what to say. Poor baby girl.

How awful, I'm so sorry for your loss.

HarryLovesDraco · 27/05/2018 22:46

Fucking arsehole dog Sad
I'm sure the owners are very sad too but fuck me I'd want that dog dealt with Angry

So sorry for your loss
She looks a dear old girl xxFlowers

I’m so sorry to hear this, it’s absolutely heartbreaking. My baby boy was killed by a car in January. No words can help, I know, but I like this little poem.

I am sorry for your loss, our pets are members of the family,
RIP lovely girl

Benji13 · 27/05/2018 22:53

I've reported it to police who can't do anything and Rspca who will just it. Dog is apparently an rspca rescue dog. I don't know how long they have had it. I don't even know the breed. I was out.
I just want them warned to be a lot more careful. Dog is clearly a threat to cats. I have other cats.
As you see from the pic my lovely girl lived happily with our dog. She was a funny, feisty and fussy girl. The best 😢😢

Omg that is devastating and what an awful shock for you all 💐

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 27/05/2018 22:58

I am so very very sorry OP, can’t begin to imagine how you are feeling right now, maybe it was such a quick attack that Poppy did not know too much about it, I do hope so. I do think you should report this to the police though, an out of control, aggressive dog was on the loose and the owners need to face the consequences of their irresponsible actions. I am so very sorry, Poppy would know how much you loved her.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 27/05/2018 23:00

Just read your update I think it’s awful the police won’t do anything. You could report this to the local dog warden though at your council? Not sure if they would do anything though either.

Benji13 · 27/05/2018 23:06

Yes I do plan to report to the dog warden on Tuesday it's emergency cover only atm. Hubby is furious.

I'm desperately hoping it was quick and her heart. She was on meds for high blood pressure since xmas. Hubby examined her and no marks she just looked asleep. So it's the only hope I can cling to tbh.
We are wracked with guilt.
We had her from rescue 14 years ago as a young mum and had one of her kittens with her too. Alfie the kitten is 14 now and is a bit lost today.

I am so very sorry for your loss.. however they leave us, there's always a huge hole and she left you too soon.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 27/05/2018 23:14

Guilt is a natural reaction to any death but you absolutely have nothing to feel guilty about, nothing. Poppy was just doing her usual thing that she loved doing, sounds to me as though it could have been her heart, that would have been very quick and by the sounds of it she looked peaceful, hang on to that.

YeahILoveSummer · 27/05/2018 23:37

So sorry. She looks a lovely girl Thanks

Vinorosso74 · 27/05/2018 23:45

Awful. I'm so sorry. I hope the dog wardens can do something. Out of control dogs is something I really hate.
Please don't feel guilty she had 15 happy years with you Flowers

Want2beme · 27/05/2018 23:49

This is so tragic. I'm in tears. Poor little thing. My thoughts are with you all. She's at peace nowFlowers

WhipItGood · 27/05/2018 23:56

Benji she’s beautiful. I’m so very very sorry, you must be heart broken Sad. Cats are such wonderful pals to have, and you gave her a lovely life.

Why oh why won’t people control their dogs? Angry

SneakyGremlins · 28/05/2018 00:00

I'm so sorry Benji Sad

For what it's worth - I think her heart just stopped. No pain, and instant. She went without any pain, is what I believe Flowers

Oxfordblue · 28/05/2018 00:03

Just wanted to say so sorry for you all.
She was a beautiful cat & what a wonderful lift she loved with you. Hold on to that thought.
Sounds like she died instantly & would have know no fear.
RIP sweet cat XX

bialystockandbloom · 28/05/2018 00:13

What a beautiful girl, you must be devastated. Please remember you gave her a happy and loving life for a long time. So so sorry.

longtompot · 28/05/2018 00:32

I am so sorry to hear this. She looks like our old boy. Hes almost 16 and is getting a bit doddery. Im sure the dogs owners are upset, but that doesn't change what has happened. I just hope it was quick for her. RIP Poppy Flowers

ShovingLeopard · 28/05/2018 00:39

Poor Poppy, she was a beautiful girl. I'm so sorry you've lost her, and in such a way. Flowers
