The neighbours, god love them, have woken me up to tell me my lovely Ernie cat has been run over just outside. He was still warm, he is curled up on his favourite blankie on the bed for one last night.

So grateful they stopped, knew him and got me, it looks like it was very quick. I am just heartbroken. I tried everything to keep him safe, but he was the one in however many ridiculous number who could scale my cat proof fencing like a blooming squirrel.

He was feisty and loving and purry and loved giving kisses. I can’t believe that tomorrow that space on the bed will be empty. I am going to miss him so much. I don’t know how I’m going to be able to take him to the crematorium tomorrow, I just can’t stop crying.

Goodnight my darling little man. Go play with your brother till I come get you at rainbow bridge.

Just need to tell people who understand.

Oh no! I'm so sorry, what a sad shock for you. At least someone knew where he lived. It must be so hard to see him there on his blanket. How old was Ernie? He sounds like he was quite a climber!

Thank you, he would have been 3 this September. I lost his brother 18 months ago to FIP. Just so hard! He just looks like he’s curled up asleep, I cleaned him up so he looks unhurt. It’s worse knowing tomorrow I’ll never see him curled up there again.

I don’t know what’s going on but this same week I lost my old ginger boy a few years ago and my lovely horse 2 years ago.

I’m so sorry, it’s such a shock.

I’m sure he knew how much you loved him.

Cry and grieve. In time you will remember all the good times you had with him.
