Aren't cats supposed to hate water?

Because 13 week old kitten has definitely got her wires crossed

And goes bonkers for anything that involves water. Switch a tap on- she is there. Switch the shower on- she is trying to join you. I've had to nag the kids to put the lid down on the toilet before they flush it because the moggy will actually climb in the bowl while it is flushing.

Her all time favourite is the bath. Having a cat do a flying leap into the tub while you are in it is........interesting. Does anyone else have a cat that is bonkers about water or is it just mine??

Picture for added cuteness.

Does she actually get in the bath? My little guy loves a running bath, shower or tap, but he doesn’t like getting very wet. Just a little splash on his paws.
He has fallen in once or twice while I’ve been in - the scratches!!!

She will get in the bath given half a chance. Her preferred method of entry is leaping from the toilet into the tub complete with almighty splash.
Muuuuuuuum the cats in my bath again is something I would have never imagined I would be hearing

Can cats swim?!?!?!?!?

Maybe there's a bit of in her.

My cat used to love sitting in the sink under a running tap, going out in the rain and sitting in the birdbath. I've never known one who dive bombs into the bath, that's really cute. Yes, cats can swim. Will she be getting a paddling pool for the garden.😊

Not only can cats swim, but jaguars hunt in the water, plus plenty of other big cats (e.g. tigers) & smaller wild breeds swim a fair bit.

DeathlyPail · 21/05/2018 19:21

Mine paddles in her water bowl, she has to have a big China dog one as the smaller cat ones just got emptied all over the floor. She also goes out in the rain.

Not got in the bath yet, but that’s mainly because she gets shut out.

My cat loves the toilet and I usually find her sitting on it and staring and the water. She will sit under my legs and meow. She likes when it flushes.

She also sits in the shower and plays in the water left after a shower. And if you are washing dishes she likes to watch the water and paw it. She sits in the bathroom sink and waits for drips. This is a picture of her in the sink.

One of mine loves water, always joins you in the shower and will join you in the bath given half a chance. He does a neat catty paddle (can't possibly be a doggy paddle).

Toddlerteaplease · 21/05/2018 19:51

We had a cat who adored the waste water hose from the washing machine. He would sit by the sink fascinated by it.

CardinalSin · 21/05/2018 19:58

Well, all cats like lying in sinks...

flakedalmonds · 21/05/2018 21:16

Oddly enough she won't go in the empty sink. Fill it with water though and she is like a toddler in a paddling pool.

She also regards ice lollies as a treat on an equal par to dreamies

one of our cats is water obsessed, his favorite game is chasing the hosepipe when I water the garden.
