New adopted cat - gone off us?

We adopted a female cat (nearly 2 yrs) from the RSPCA 3 wks ago. She settled really quickly, confidently explored the house, gave us lots of attention etc, but 3 wks in and she seems more grumpy. The last couple of days she has just ignored us. Could it be the hot weather? Our she really wants to go outside? (She's very interested in getting out), has the novelty of humans worn off, or do you think we've just offended her?! She's eating well, but definitely sleeping more - possibly because she's more relaxed?

She's a cat! She doesn't understand the novelty of you or get bored of you. She's settling in. Relax!

Will she be going outside, she might be sleepy because it's warmer weather.have you got a photo.

Yes, she will be going outside, but thought we'd wait another week before we let her out. This is a pic of her last week, v chilled sitting on my marking pile.

She wouldn't leave my side last week - but now she doesn't want any fuss and isn't coming up to rub against us / scent mark like she was doing before

It’s too warm. Dh woke ours up earlier and got a right mouthful.

Obviously we closed the blinds and left the room.

She looks very chilled, very pretty girl. Will you be accompanying her for her first few outings.

bunzle · 19/05/2018 21:26

Yes, have been doing lots of recall training. Might start letting her out in half-term as we'll be around a lot more. Yes, she's very pretty 😍

Possibly she just feels more secure. And doesn't need to scent Mark you. She looks lovely and very chilled out.

My cats will have nothing to do with us when is hot.
Or when it's windy
Or when I use new floor cleaner
Or new washing powder
Or use new shampoo
Or when I don't give them food off my plate
Or when I can them

Cats like to remind us they are above us

wormery · 19/05/2018 21:30

Did the recall training involve shaking a packet of dreamies, I bet she will love stretching out in the sun in the garden.

Our cat is like this in good weather. She's too busy out there living the life to bother with her humans. She's much nicer in winter!

lostinsunshine · 19/05/2018 21:42

What a beauty! You are being trained.

bunzle · 19/05/2018 21:42

Yes, there are definitely dreamies involved 😀

They're contrary old things, make no mistake. Everything on their terms, always. You'll adjust to her in timeWink
