My cat came back

Yesterday my aggressive, anti-social cat came back. She disappeared at he end of March. We thought she'd chosen to leave once the weather got warmer as she hated the new kitten who arrived in October.

Turns out she was lost Sad

She looks terrible. She's a big cat who weighed 5.5kg. Not fat, just big. Now she's just 3kg. And she's so quiet and traumatised. Now we're all her best friends, even the young cat. When I pick her up I can feel all her bones, there's nothing to her.

Do I need to take her to the vet? She's eating and drinking ok but is moving like a very old cat ie needs help to get on the bed as she can't jump up. She's only 8. Or should I just keep an eye on her and give her time to recover?

Vets to be on safe side, she’s prob just dehydrated but just in case there’s an injury get her checked over, imo

LanguidLobster · 17/05/2018 09:56

Awww, poor little thing :(. Glad she's back and recovers from any trauma quickly

Oh poor puss. Yes to the vet as a precaution.

How wonderful that she's home. Another vote for a vet check, plus you'll need good a good wormer & maybe de-fleaing as quite a high priority. You may want to get some advice on the safest way to put the weight back on as well. Loads of cuddles & fuss seem to be in order!

aw, great that she came home!

MimpiDreams · 17/05/2018 11:00

Just back from the vets. She's ok but very under weight. The vet has given me some 'recovery' food which she said is for cats who come back after a spate in the wilderness. I'm so happy she's back but also so sad at how frightened she must have been.

How did she get back?

The poor girl must have been very scared.

MimpiDreams · 17/05/2018 17:11

No idea. She just came in the catflap meowing her head off, with relief I expect.

Ahh, the poor old thing. It's wonderful when they come home. Hope she gets better soonSmile

I hope you are a true slave today and every day from now on. No scrimping on food /cuddles - even in the bed if necessary!

Bless her. A bit of tlc and she'll be OK by the sound of things.
I hope the armistice with the kitten lasts Grin
