Cat staying out all night.

We rescued a cat last month and things have been going really well. He has been getting out for the past few weeks, but tonight he had decided not to come homeSad

We have jad gorgeous weather here today and my house is surrounded by woods/fields.

We have bought him a shelter that he can access through a microchip door - but i am still really nervous about him staying out all night.

Does anyone elses cat stay out all night?

I woudn't let my cat stay out all night by choice. I'd be worried about her getting into a fight, or getting injured in some way.

Last night it was so warm, the little monkey ran away from me, luckily she came in when I tempted her with cat treat!

Mine are in at night. Since having good weather and lighter evenings, one of mine has taken to staying out later, but she does actually come in when I call her, so that's good. I couldn't cope with them being out all night.

Mine make their own decisions. Basil is frequently a dirty stop out - Sybil very rarely. I'm used to my cats being out at night so it doesn't worry me at all.

As an aside - of the three 'major incidents' I've experienced in 35 odd years of cat ownership one was in the day (cat shot by a evil lowlife shit with an air-rifle) and the other two were in the evening. One was for the same cat - vet thought car accident or kicked - he lost an eye as a result, the other time an escaped Jack Russell attacked Basil (very worrying until it turned out all the blood was from the dog)

Purdy stayed out last night but is an ex-stray. The younger one is refusing to come in tonight.

Mine sneaks out if any window is left open. I don’t mind as where we live there are very few cars on the road at night so in some ways safer. He comes home around 5 am but can’t remember how to get in, then he sleeps all day.

Ours usually keep themselves in at night out of choice, but boycat has started nipping out very early in the morning.

Not a problem, we thought. But today he hasn't come home and we haven't seen him at all, all day, which isn't like him at all. :(

You should be keeping your cat in for about 8 weeks before letting them out at all.
He needs to be in at night. Increased risk of injury or RTA. Set a curfew on the catflap. Why isn't he in the house? Is he not neutered?

CharlieAlphaTango stays out all night quite often. He climbs out through the window.
