Flea bite allergy

Hi all I'm hoping like hell someone can help me.

I have 3 cats all treated for fleas every 4 weeks using the vets prescribed stuff, however we live in a rural
Location next to a heavily wooded area and my poor cat keeps getting bitten. Now the fleas are dying due to the treatment but she's suffering with the allergy effects of scratching, scabbing hair loss etc. The vet have treated her with a course of steroids but it didn't fully clear up and it back worse then ever now they've finished.

Any advice anyone

No advice sorry but I know how you're feeling. Do the scabs bleed a lot too?
My little rescue cat has very sensitive skin, & other health problems too

Any chance you can keep her indoors? That's the only thing that helped with my girl

What do you do @FootFlapperage? even when I've kept her in my other 2 must bring 'friends' in ormots something in the house. I've no idea what to do next

I've also read that child's Piriton can help?

One of our cats is allergic to flea bites. Take him back to the vets and get a different flea treatment from them, last time ours got fleas was because the fleas had become resistant to the vet perscribed flea treatment, so our poor cat had to be treated for the allergy and perscribed different anti flea treatment.

Also make sure you get the spray to spray in your house to kill any fleas in your home. Wash all your cats bedding etc.

I went crazy and pretty much steam cleaned the whole house boil washed all the cats stuff and washed our bedding and then when everything was dry I sprayed indorex everywhere.

Out poor cat really gets very sick with flea bites.

Is that a 3 monthly treatment? That was mentioned a s a possibility. I'm forever spraying indorex 😳

My cat has started reacting like this as well. And our other cat has a house mite allergy. It's been a great winter. I'm not sure there is anything to do other than steroids which really aren't ideal long term. I wonder if the injection for fleas would help, however, like you, I keep up with flea treatment but a flea that gets on and bites and then dies from the treatment, still causes the reaction.

No it’s a monthly treatment. I’ve been administering it religiously to all the cats. He gets poorly very quickly once he gets bitten.

Cats do get other allergies, if there are no signs of fleas it is time to investigate for another allergy. House dust mite allergies are not uncommon in cats.

Having a cat with a flea allergy, and one with a house mite allergy, for my two, they look very different. The house mites is an all over, almost ezcema allergy, where as the fleas, looks exactly like the OP's picture. They are very local, around the neck and definite bites. And they don't have to have fleas on them as the treatment works by killing fleas that bite, but by the time they've bitten, it's too late, you have an infected bite.

@Fannyfanakerpants thanks for your input she get baldy patches around the base of her tail/spine but all the patches look like the one I posted. My poor girl, she's a rescue and when we got her she was riddled with fleas and mites etc took us ages to sort her out now this.
