Early wakings - any advice?

Hello :)

Our rescue cat (we've had her about 5/6 weeks now) had taken to waking us up meowing . I know, I know.... it's not much on the grand scale of things, but i wondered if anyone had any good techniques to help her maybe just chill for another hour or two!

We have been researching and read that feeding upon waking is not a great idea and we should wait until we are all dressed and had breakfast. Another idea was a timed feeder.

Her last feed is pretty late and we supplement with dry, the dry food is there during the night so it's not like she's starving, just being fussy!

I do appreciate she's the boss...(lol)

She just wants to be with you, it's common for cats to wake up their slaves at about 4am, we get up, stroke them, play with them, feed them, let them out then in again then they show us their gratitude by going back to sleep. You could shut the bedroom doors and wear industrial strength earplugs but you'd only worry about her and wake up anyway just to make sure she was ok. Does she sleep in the bedrooms.

We lock ours in the utility with all the essentials.

He takes up way too much room on the bed and I wake up wedged between the cat and Dh sore from not being able to move.

@wormery thank you - I do suspect she just wants to be with us, it's not so much food. It's very cute and adorable to be fair! She does sleep in our room, she has all but one room of the house to roam.

@Fluffycloudland77 I feel your pain, we cant lock her away in our situation but we've considered a bigger bed lol! We've given her so much to sleep on but you know how that works out Thinking of sliding the cat tree into our room tonight and see if she sleeps on that but I doubt it for all the same reasons, shes just so affectionate and loves being around us.

Mine gets turfed outside every time he does this. It was very effective as after a couple of weeks he stopped moving until we got up.
He does have a cat house lined with wool and blankets in the shed so he's not just left to the elements.
