How/where does your cat sleep?

Mine used to sleep curled up on my bed either on the side or at the bottom (which good little cats should, apart from most didn't get the memo).

She's started driving me a bit crazy now though as I sleep on my side and she's taken to balancing on my hip. I'm really small so this necessitates some claw readjustment to keep her position, I scream, put her in sitting room, she scrabbles non stop and I worry she'll damage the door (rental), I let her out and it's claw/hip thing repeat repeat :(

Do you let your cat in the bedroom? Are they well behaved? Do they actually use a designated cat bed? Mine won't

One of my cats sleeps on my side, too (I have 5) but she doesn't hurt. Just recently, she's taken to getting under the covers and curling up in my arms, it's like cuddling a teddy bear! One of my other cats curls up next to my son on his bed and the other 3, well I have no idea. They seem to change where they sleep all the time but I think they sleep in the living room all night. Until they decide to have a mad fit at 2am in the morning...

Screaminginsideme · 24/04/2018 10:44

Where ever the hell they want!

AnoiaUnstickMyDrawers · 24/04/2018 10:45

What screaming said!

LanguidLobster · 24/04/2018 10:47

Glitter that's really sweet :)

Here, it us more like "Where Doesn't you Cat Sleep?"

GreenShadow · 24/04/2018 10:50

But no. I don't let the cars sleep in my room. I sleep badly enough as it is without the added disturbance of our feline friends.

ifonly4 · 24/04/2018 10:57

Mine never took to cat beds either. They would never share so often one had the bed, one the settee. Although, if it was my boy's sure for the settee, sometimes he'd sleep on the stairs. I have an oldie now who can make any of these obstacles, and she's taken to a flat sheepskin type mat with a warmer inside.

GlitterAndTrauma · 24/04/2018 10:59

Buy an expensive cat bed, a really expensive cat bed. You can guarantee they will sleep in the cardboard box...

On my bed

How/where does your cat sleep?
Iamnotacerealkiller · 24/04/2018 11:11

Basically exactly where we don't want him to.

Imediatly next to his cat bed.
On the electric hob flat glass top
On my new born who is on my lap.
In the middle of the wooden floor where we can't see him as he matches it exactly.
On the sheer of bubble wrap we are about to use
On the baby's changing mat.

He seems to like in treating textures.

Chinesecrested · 24/04/2018 11:12

The dog sleeps on the bed, so the cats don't want to. They sleep on the sofas and go out through the cat flap if necessary

The cats have their own cat bed each; but SisterCat sleeps behind the settee in the daytime, while BrotherCat sleeps on our bed. At night, they sleep either side of me, so I can't move! At daylight, SisterCat decides to balance on my chest or side, and then if she is feeling bored or lonely (?), she gently sticks a claw into my lip to get me to talk to her, I guess? I wake up to a faceful of fur!

We could shut them out or in the kitchen, but then they scratch the new doors and/or carpets for hours!

LanguidLobster · 24/04/2018 11:22

Actually I feel slightly reassured mine's not the only sleeping nuisance at times.

I think I'll have to sellotape the sitting room door against claws, buy some earplugs, and hope for the best. She'll probably burst through like the incredible hulk

One sleeps downstairs as he likes to be in and out the cat flap all night and the other one likes to sleep on the pillow curled around my headSmile

amyj1994 · 24/04/2018 11:39

My cat usually sleeps on the end of the bed but has recently started climbing under the covers!

Iwasjustabouttosaythat · 24/04/2018 11:50

Mine used to sleep in the bed with me. He used to sleep down by my feet in summer (occasionally clawing my feet through the sheet if he was feeling playful) and then as the weather got colder through autumn and winter he would move further up the bed until his head was resting on my pillow and he was cuddled up beside me and DP for the really cold nights.

I miss him so much. For months after he passed away, every time DP would move his feet in the night I thought (half asleep) it was my darling jumping up on the bed. I miss him so.

Maybe a small blanket on your hip so you can’t feel the claws? Cat cuddles are the best.

Ours sleeps in a metal fruit bowl on the coffee table Hmm.

He LOVES his fruit bowl.

If you were to put anything in it (like a wine cork, for example Grin ) he literally bats it out with his paw within seconds and glares at you!

He doesn't really sleep on beds much, I think it's because he's very fluffy and therefore gets too hot. He likes the cold, stone kitchen floor.... sometimes the bath....but certainly loves his fruit bowl Smile

Toddlerteaplease · 24/04/2018 12:13

Mine like to sleep under my bed. And will come on to the bed if they hear me stirring. Snorg likes to spoon up next to me. Which is very cute.

Toddlerteaplease · 24/04/2018 12:13

They do use all their beds though.

Ollivander84 · 24/04/2018 12:14

On my bed on my hip or stomach
On his chair (on a cushion)
In his cat bed (lined with sheepskin) Blush

mimibunz · 24/04/2018 12:18

The Bunz sleeps on the sofa, which he's supposed to vacate in the evening so I can sit there (he refuses to share), then in the middle of the night he transfers himself to the spare bed, high on top of clean clothes. Recently though, he will find a warm patch of sunshine and pass out.

QueenOfAccidentalDeathStares · 24/04/2018 12:21

on the duvet
under the duvet
on the duvet
under the duvet
on the duvet
under the duvet
on the duvet
under the duvet
on the duvet
under the duvet
...... and repeat all night Grin

I've only let my boy sleep on my bed at night a handful of times - because he's usually up and ready to play at about 4.30am which is NOT conducive to a good night's sleep. So...he sleeps in the kitchen (where the door is shut and he has a cat flap) but not in his expensive, cosy bed... oh no... either on one of the dining chairs or on the black chaise which ends up covered in cat hair! He's allowed to sleep where he likes during the day (prefers DS1's bed).

LegendOfTomorrow · 24/04/2018 12:33

My cat likes to sleep under the covers curled up by my tummy but as I sleep naked I'm always worried she'll do that "cuddle... snuggle... love... ATTACK!" thing and I'll lose a nipple so she's left in the living room and kitchen at night more often than not. Sometimes at bed time we'll find her sharing the bed with her human brother or sisters so we'll leave her be for the night. She also doesn't bother with a litter tray so will, like a dog, be let out at night for a quick pee and again first thing. If she really can't hold it she has been known to do her business down the plug hole of the bath 😂 so as long as she has access to the bathroom it's all fine. I'm considering training her to use the toilet though.

SporkInTheToaster · 24/04/2018 12:45

Boy kitten - Next to my head or in the kitchen. He only sleeps in my bed about 1 night a week because he gets up at 5am and starts shouting, running around, pulling at carpets and stamping on heads for attention. Not cool.

Girl kitten - Sleeps with DC3 or in the kitchen but I’m a shift worker and she loves curling up with me on day time sleeps (next to my head, on her back, legs akimbo)

Adult Boy cat - In between DH and I in bed Hmm or anywhere else in the house. Generally, wherever the terrible twosome aren’t.

We have cat beds but they never use them, they prefer chairs/sofas/human beds.
