Cat spraying - help!!

So I posted before about my 'old' male cat and 'new' female cat not getting along. They have now been living together for nearly three months and seem perfectly content together. They will potter about quite happily, sleep in the same basket and groom each other sometimes and there is no aggression. 'Old' cat has perked up a lot and that was the idea since he was miserable when he brother died. All fine.

But 'old' cat has started spraying. He is 9 and has never done this before so it's obviously in response to the new arrival. He must be stressed or feel threatened even though the two cats seem fine together. He only started the spraying after she had been here about 6 weeks though, which was also the time they seemed to bond a bit!

We have tried feliway, pet remedy and zylkene with no effect. He's doing it in different places and multiple times a day. I'm getting really upset about it as I have a 1 year old and a 2 year old so obviously can't have cat wee everywhere.

Can anyone help? Rehoming the female cat is an option I suppose, but I really don't want to resort to that and I'm not sure it would even solve the problem. Help please!!

For info - he is 9, she is 3, both neutered, both eat different food so no aggression round feeding or anything.

Have you taken a wee sample to the vet? If it’s an infection he’ll need antibiotics.
