Harry Puss, therapy cat

We took Harry to see my mother in law this morning and he’s been such a good boy. She’s 99, and almost deaf and blind and she was so happy to see him - the nurse said it made her happier than morphine!

She didn’t realise what we had in the box when we arrived and couldn’t hear the word cat, she thought we said Barry the bat rather than Harry the cat but when she realised she was over the moon and wanted to keep him! The staff at the care home kept coming in to see him and make a fuss of him which thankfully he tolerated!

He’s such a good boy!

Lovely story. I think my cat would be a good therapy cat, she is very docile and loves to sit on people.

Harry!!! [heart]

DramaAlpaca · 15/04/2018 13:47

What a lovely thing to do, OP.

Barry the bat made me smile. Bet she was glad it was actually Harry the cat Grin

Awwww, Harry you little furry 🌟.

I'd love to take Leroy as a therapy cat, unfortunately I think he's more like that cause a need for therapy!

Vinorosso74 · 15/04/2018 14:15

That is lovely. Harry is my favourite cat that I haven't met. Any photos?

Toddlerteaplease · 15/04/2018 16:58

That's lovely, well done Haribo!

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 15/04/2018 19:32

He was brilliant. I wouldn’t say he enjoyed it but he didn’t disgrace himself in any way! We’re going to try and take him regularly as it was lovely to see her face light up when she realised it wasn’t Barry the Bat in the box!

No pictures of him visiting as we’re in all of them (and I look absolutely huge next to MIL who weighs less than 5st!) but here’s one of him at home Vino

Thank you for the photo! So good if he's ok with the visits. I think our old girl would have been good with that as she was so calm.

TerfsUp · 15/04/2018 20:15

Ahhh, bless. Smile

Fluffycloudland77 · 15/04/2018 20:35

Mine would’ve freaked out. He really took that in his stride.

MabelFurball · 15/04/2018 20:36

Good job Harry and what lovely thoughtful parents you have.

Weedsnseeds1 · 15/04/2018 22:49

Bless him, what a good boy Smile
I took a Shetland pony on a hospital visit once.

Vinorosso74 · 16/04/2018 10:53

Did you take the pony inside the hospital?? Am just imaging the lift opening and someone stood there with a pony!

mintkat · 16/04/2018 10:57

That’s adorable.

My cat hates being transported anywhere but loves all veterinary staff and has a way of purring and gazing at them that has made me and DH secretly enjoying taking him to the vet because of all the compliments we get

Weedsnseeds1 · 16/04/2018 11:27

vino they wouldn't let me take him in, had to take him into the grounds near the ward on a lead rope!

Vinorosso74 · 16/04/2018 11:29

weeds I did wonder. The mental images I had were quite something.....

sashh · 16/04/2018 12:49

Weedsnseeds1

Couldn't you say it was a guide horse?
