Woke you yesterday morning to find my cat limping on his hind leg. Had to rush off to an 8.30am appointment, but checked him again when we got back. Still the same. Phoned vet who had no appointments available but suggested I can bring him straight down and wait. Did this and luckily not much of a wait.
Vet says he has a torn ligament (she may have said cruciate?) in his left hind knee, but checked him for bites as we have a feral cat who passes through here, no temperatures etc. He had a pain reliving injection and we have meloxicam to give him for a week. Just keep an eye for any signs of infection etc. No follow up unless he worsens.
He has to stay on bed rest and no going out. He scratches at doors and his flap trying to go out. He loves being outdoors. We have put a litter tray near his flap, but he is meowing to go out.
DH took him for a short walk (on a lead!) this morning, just round the garden.
It is horrible watching him limp. Does anyone have any experience of this? Will it heal or will he need surgery? (vet didn't mention surgery)
