Could absolutely kick myself

A stray lad in terrible condition, visits me from time to time and I really want to help him. I managed to coax him with some food, into a large travel box this morning, and got it closed only for the bottom closure bit to come loose and he managed to escape - I couldn't believe itShock. He ran off but hovered around for a little bit, then walked away. He was soaking wet from the rain. I'm really upset and peed off with myself for messing it up. The problem is that he only appears at roughly 6 week intervals, but in the last week he's appeared 3 times and he's looking worse.

Do you think a vet will a treat a feisty stray? My vet is a farm vet as well, so used to dealing with difficult situations. I think I'll pop in and ask them.

I hope he comes back, poor wee thing.

Good luck! I took a stray cat in to the vet once, she spent loads of time going through his manky fur and removed no fewer than 10 ticks, then she treated him for fleas and ticks with the spot on stuff, and in the end she didn't charge us a thing. What a lovely thing to do. Sadly the cat never came back :-(

If he's appearing more frequently could you get him into a routine of coming for food and then maybe see if you could beg or borrow a cat trap (if he'll be too suspicious of the travel box second time around) if you have time set aside to monitor the trap he may go into it for some food & then you could take straight to vet. Good luck it's so kind of you to be helping him

Sadly, I haven't seen him today. I've been in touch with local rescue re a trap, so maybe he'll go go into it?! He's very sweet, but so wary and I'm afraid I've completley scared him off now. He's lived around here for years and I assumed he was a farm cat, (very stocky and confident), but recently he's looking very bedraggled. I'll keep trying.
