Cleaning agents + cats?

MN taught me that they're attracted to bleach and it's really harmful for them.

I was doing a flat clean today when I saw her scurrying towards the bathroom (I'd bleached the loo) so bellowed like a rugby player and she scurried back again.

Dettol and creme cleanser's ok though isn't it? Zoflora is mentioned quite a lot on here but I've never tried it.

I think Dettol is dangerous. Zoflora is the best thing ever invented! Apparently if you follow the instructions it's not dangerous. There was a link on here to the pet bit of the Zoflora website recently that went into detail. I can't imagine that cream cleaner would be a problem.

Yep dettol is very toxic to cats

As far as I remember it’s anything containing phenols, so anything that turns cloudy, so I would assume zoflora is out too

WinnerWinnerChickenDinner0 · 02/04/2018 21:53

Just checked and according to zoflora it’s the oils that turn the water cloudy not phenols so is safe for cats

Ah ok, thanks people. I have to do more cleaning tomorrow (flat might go onto the market) so might send cat out to the entrance hall to her 'wendy house' (I rerigged a few cardboard boxes, she loves it) to protect little paws!

Diluted bleach is fine once it has dried. So as long as you keep cats away when actually cleaning, it's perfectly safe.

Brand name cleaning products are tested on animals too.

Aldi products are buav approved ie they have the leaping bunny symbol on them.

I use;
Bleach in the loo. Seat down.
Watered down all purpose cleaner in a spray
Glass cleaner.
Cream cleaner from waitrose.

LanguidLobster · 03/04/2018 08:39

You use the same sort of products as me fluffycloudland77.

I was initially quite horrified to see the cat go after the bleach like she would dreamies. Loo seat firmly down Grin
