Alive mouse under my fridge

My cat likes to bring in her prey alive and uninjured. There's now a mouse under my fridge. My fridge is huge, I cannot move it at all. Even if I could move the fridge my cat would only play with the mouse not kill it.
Is it time to buy a trap and hope the mouse comes out from under the fridge and conveniently gets into the trap!?!

I have fridge jealousy. Not only can I not afford a posh new fridge, but that would never fit in my kitchen.

Drinaballerina · 28/03/2018 18:51

I have that problem, the cats always catch it in the end!

moofolk · 28/03/2018 18:58

A humane trap (but check it very regularly or they become not very humane at all :-(
Or, a tip from a country-dwelling friend: mice like safe dark places, so if you can lie a welly or a big sock on its side somewhere near to the fridge and then have a poke under the fridge with a stick, garden cane, tape measure etc, there’s every chance it will run out and run straight into the sock or welly.

Let Hunter cat re-catch mouse, pick up cat with mouse in her mouth, throw both of them out the back door, then get hold of cat and prise mouse out of cats mouth. That's what I do. Good luck.

If the mouse stays under there and pops its clogs through fright, get a long thin flat piece of wood and pull it out - by inserting it at the side rear and wiggling it forward. Gawd knows what will come out with it. Grin

I currently have this problem. Frequently and right now. Do you have any new advice?

I had a resident mouse under my treadmill, then found the little bastard had chewed holes in my sofa and taken up residence under the cushions...

Humane trap filled with cat food got it! It also liked strawberries... It took me a while to work out where to put the food in the trap though as it kept stealing it without setting the trap off 😂
