Help! Cat's turned into a feral wildebeest?

I don't actually like her very much at the moment and wish she had a muzzle and a straightjacket.

She's eating x2 as much as normal, constant howls for more food, and at nighttime boings all over me like a black bunny rabbit. If I put her in the sitting room she howls like a wolf and scrabbles so I have to let her out. Then the boinging on top of me starts again. I've had 2 hours sleep per night for the last few and feel quite grumpy.

It's probably not medical is it? She's exhausting

Is she a house cat? Mine always goes a bit feral when we get some good weather finally so I let her outside to prowl.

LanguidLobster · 28/03/2018 11:46

Yes house - ahhh it might be change in temp, hope she calms down soon though

How old is she and has she been neutered?

StormTreader · 28/03/2018 11:50

Youre hearing the literal call of the wild - she wants to be out pouncing on the small furry beasts!

LanguidLobster · 28/03/2018 11:55

She's nearly 14 and neutered.

Storm don't say that, I don't want her thinking I'm her small furry beast!

At that age my guess would be hyperthyroidism then. Excessive hunger, thirst, restlessness, being vocal, digestive issues and weight loss are all symptoms. Eating lots but losing weight is typical, and behaving a bit manic.

Time to see the vet's for a blood test.

Oh dear - ok thanks viccat

Yes, sounds like hyperthyroidism. My cats have had it and they're crazy hyper until medication sorts them out.
