Is it safe for a kitten on a new build building site?

We have been looking forward to getting a kitten/cat again when we buy our own home (we’ve been in rented accommodation for 3 years and haven’t been allowed pets)
We are finally buying our own place, we move in in a couple of months. My concern is that because we are moving into a new build-with lots of building still happening nearby- it might not be a safe environment for a cat or kitten. Has anyone any experience or opionions about this? Am I over thinking any danger?

It's extremely stressful having cats in the house whilst building work is happening. I've done it so many times, prop dev, and wouldn't do it again in a million years. You spend most of your time worrying where they are and if they're safe. I'd wait until your work is done and then get a cat from a rescue. There'll be plenty waiting for you!

You are underthinking the danger if anything. Wait until you've finished the building, then get a cat/kitten (from a rescue of course).

Assuming the building is happening nearby and not on your actual house then there's no reason you couldn't safely keep a house cat. As long as you don't let it out.

Ah, I misunderstood. If the building in your house will be finished then it's not so much of a risk. If it's a kitten you would need to keep it in until it's five months anyway, and if it's an older cat then you would need to keep in for a month, and if there is a lot of building nearby then I would keep in for longer.

Just cat proof your garden. So your kitten can play outside but not roam further?

You could always get a rescue cat, they are indoor only and need good homes.😻
