drinking fountains

Gatekeeper · 20/03/2018 12:36

Sherlock drinks a lot of water and always has done but only from the tap - will drink from any old mucky puddle outside though Smile

I'm out of the house more now and concerned that he is thirsty during the day. Has anyone got a drinking fountain for their cats and can recommend please?

thanks

We have a fountain and all 3 of mine use it with no trouble. It's a stainless still catit one, I think it was around £20.

CantChoose · 20/03/2018 15:48

CantCat has this one and loves it. Will sit by it expectantly if it's not turned on!

Friends cat uses it a lot (diabetic)

Toddlerteaplease · 20/03/2018 20:20

My parents have a tiny water feature that their cat lives. He's also started sitting in the bathroom sink waiting for them to turn the tap on for him.

Oldraver · 20/03/2018 21:14

Ernie has a Catit one and loves it.

He also loves the outside water feature that he seems to think has been installed for himself

My little one used to sit in the bath crying for us to turn on the tap (at 4am....) got him a cat mate fountain and he loves it, best purchase ever

MojoMoon · 21/03/2018 22:20

We have cat mate and it has been a success

Mine pissed in her fountain. She is quite happy with her bowl Smile

Liz38 · 25/03/2018 21:27

We borrowed one for our elderly boy for what turned out to be his last month. He loved it. He'd always been a shocker for drinking puddles and ignoring his nice clean fresh water bowl but he did like the fountain. We're thinking of getting one when the baby cats come to live with us.

GingerKitCat · 25/03/2018 23:56

I was stingy and bought a very basic water dispenser for mine as I didn't trust him to use an electric fountain. Like other cats he prefers the pond and puddles.

This one:

Surprisingly he loves it. I wonder if it gurgles or bubbles as he laps at the water? He completely ignored a regular bowl of water, this one has magic properties!

I've not used it for dry food (the reviews say it gets stuck unless your cat is clever enough to free it) but for water it works for us.

ElizaDontlittle · 26/03/2018 01:18

I got one when it was very hot last summer to try and get my cats to drink more.
My older girl is scared of it, and the baby prefers to play with it! Contrary things!!

You mean it wasn't?

QueenOfAccidentalDeathStares · 27/03/2018 16:14

make sure you get one that is easy to clean, as they have to be cleaned weekly, and some are very fiddly.

Oldraver · 27/03/2018 22:45

I cant possible admit I thought Ern would just love the water feature

He stands on the stone, gets wet paws and laps the water bubbling up through the hole we had to take off the fountain attatchment

YetAnotherSpartacus · 28/03/2018 14:46

mmmmmmmmm nuff said.

fenneltea · 28/03/2018 17:34

I got the Catmate one after having to get up during the night to turn the tap on in the bath for one of ours. I really like the fountain, they all seem to prefer it, apart from one that still prefers the old water dish that the dogs use, or another that prefers the disgusting water in the bird bath or pond Confused

Gatekeeper · 30/03/2018 19:10

Sherlock wails at me at 3am for me to turn the tap on so am going to invest in one, or stick a filthy old dustbin lid filled with leaves and muck and a bit of pond water and stick it on my bedside table!

Same as Smeaton over here, ours love the taps and will sit expectantly waiting for us to turn them on so they can splash around. So I bought them a fountain from Amazon. Not interested when it's running but will happily drink from it when it's off.

Most expensive water bowl I ever bought Hmm
