My ragamuffin queen is pregnant!

There is a long back story to this whereby I have been trying to breed her for the past 3 years and had no success but finally it has happened (I think). I'm hoping to be an amateur breeder so this will be my first home born litter. We are at week 3 with my gorgeous girl retching occasionally (morning sickness), eating and grazing a lot and with firm/ pinked up nipples. Hoping to take he for a scan in the next 2-3 weeks.

Do any of you lovely people have breeding stories to share? I'm still in touch with the breeder who selected her because I wanted to buy a breeding quality queen but I don't want to trouble her too much!

Does 'see how she finds this litter' mean you plan to breed a second litter if you can?

F4ttyBumBum · 17/03/2018 19:43

I am keeping everything crossed that all goes well and I'll keep you updated with how things go.

If she is infertile it will be for a good reason. Please just neuter her and have her as a pet. I won't go there with the stats but you seriously need to think a lot harder than you are at the moment OP. Please. It's important.

Zeelove · 17/03/2018 19:51

Maybe I'm being stupid, but if people didn't breed how would we get rag doll (or other breed cats?)

Congratulations for adding to the cat overpopulation problem.

It's not too late to neuter now you know, if she's only early stage pregnancy...

chemenger · 17/03/2018 20:08

OP seems to be on a completely different thread from the rest of us.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 17/03/2018 20:14

@Zeelove, I think there is a difference between a reputable, professional breeder and someone like the OP who just wants to make money from the poor cat.

BellMcEnd · 17/03/2018 20:16

Yes please let us know that you’re planning on having her spayed ASAP. Poor cat. Three years????? Sad

Bloomed · 17/03/2018 20:17

Can you find another way of making a few quid OP?

Annabelle4 · 17/03/2018 20:17

Have you read the thread OP? Confused

LadyDeadpool · 17/03/2018 20:30

I really hope OP is a troll as surely being so willfully ignorant isn't normal.

Trumpdump · 17/03/2018 20:36

Op, do you have any idea as to how many unwanted cats are in shelters?

That poor cat. I really wish we had pet licenses in this country Sad

poddige · 17/03/2018 20:38

After that update OP just can not be serious.

poddige · 17/03/2018 20:39

Keep everything crossed hun.

retirednow · 17/03/2018 20:46

I've just googled ragamuffins, they are all fluffy and soft looking but so are many rescue cats and cats desperate for homes, three years is a long time, poor little soul. Was she deliberarely bred with a stud or just d.t.d when no one was lookingGrin

Annabelle4 · 17/03/2018 20:51

Retirednow, I can't believe you just asked that ShockGrin

CactusSpikes · 17/03/2018 20:51

Oh ignore the haters, you aren't the devil incarnate for breeding pedigree type cats
People aren't going to pay hundreds to dump a cat in a shelter.

I breed rats and I don't do it for the money because I spend 5x more on supplies, vet fees and food for a litter but I do it because I love the experience and all the updates from the new families. If you do it right it's not a terrible thing. If everyone stoped breeding cats would die out as a species fgs.

NotAllTimsWearCapes · 17/03/2018 20:53

Do your rats love the experience and updates from new families?

PlumsGalore · 17/03/2018 20:53

i was going to bite, but the more I read the less I believe.

Trumpdump · 17/03/2018 20:53

I hope that op is a troll. I really do Sad

thecatneuterer · 17/03/2018 20:53

People aren't going to pay hundreds to dump a cat in a shelter. We get loads of pedigrees dumped on us. One even came to use at one year old, with papers and receipts, and the owner had paid £3000!! But they decided it was too much trouble and they dumped it.

Last time I commented on a similar thread I was deleted for calling the op a twat.

So yeah, no comment.

I have a breeding story to share.

3 years ago I rescued an ex breeding queen Ragdoll from a breed specific shelter. She had been bred until she was aged 5, I don't know how many litters she had but the shelter said she was bred to exhaustion then was no longer useful and replaced with a younger cat. She has been our pet now for 3 years & she now has that shiny bit down her back where she has been stroked a lot & she's not as quiet or as shy as before & you can no longer feel her bones.

But the breeding has taken its toll on her health, she's had to have all the teeth in her lower right jaw removed because they were so bad. She's had teeth removed from both upper jaws & also the lower left & the vet said this is entirely due to her breeding years. If you breed your cat then it will have an impact on her health at some point.

But amateur breeders in the main don't give a fuck as the animal has ceased to become a valid life in her own right & is now just a money making machine & whilst the last round of kittens are being sold on fucking Gumtree, amateur breeders are planning their next assault for their exhausted little girl & when she has had enough & is too clapped out to bear more kittens then she is thrown away as she has no value & the cycle of my cat is played out over & over again.
