Broken knee cap, anyone got experience

My oriental shorthair has fractured his tibia and the knee cap is in bits. Vet said worse case scenario is amputation.

I've been reading up a bit on patella fractures and few surgical repairs are successful apparently. Cage rest for 8 weeks probably has better outcome.

This cat is a huge jumper, unlike any other cat I've ever had and even with one leg out of use was still getting up on the bed last night.

He's currently at vets awaiting second X-ray.

Does anyone have experience of feline patella fractures?

Sorry to hear this. I seem to remember someone talking about a similar issue recently. How's he been today? Did the x-ray show anything conclusive? Flowers

Second X-ray showed no broken bone and no broken patella. Thank goodness, makes me wonder what the first vet saw Hmm

He just has some ligament damage.

Here's a pic of him

That's good news. What a beautiful cat. Gorgeous face and ears.
