A cat would be an affordable trouble-free affectionate pet
Any cat would be delighted to sleep in a specially purchased cat bed
If it was hungry enough it would eat what it was given
A properly trained cat would not go on human beds or kitchen surfaces.

A properly trained cat

To be fair, mine has proved highly trainable ( previous cats were highly averse to doing anything other than what they fancied).
He sleeps on the bed, which I am more than happy about, and detests any purpose built cat structures.
Other than that, he comes when called, sits on command, gives a paw, rolls over and walks on a lead when on holiday.
He's somewhat atypical though Smile

My two are 'properly trained' all five of their cat beds are used. They have never jumped onto the work tops as they've only got stubby little legs. And have never turned their nose up at food! But they really aren't very good at catting!

You obviously hadn't read the memo that cats are capricious Gods that you need to wait upon hand and foot. They are able to read your mind, so don't understand why you can't read theirs. They have the right to change their minds, but once they have established a routine you must NEVER change anything (unless they change it themselves of course).

You were put in this earth to cater to their every whim. Everything in your house is for THEIR convenience (including you and any family).

And they are worth it Grin

weedsneeds Are you absolutely sure yours is really a cat? Does he perhaps bark as well?
