What's wrong with my cat?

Our clinically sociable and very loving cat wasn't in our room this morning which is unheard of. She was on DS's window sill and behaving very oddly:

No purring
Only letting me stroke the back of her head very gently (shrinking away otherwise)
Not sniffing hand when held in front of her nose.
Not rubbing her head on hand and licking it which she does every time
Standing like a statue, ears up, fur quite ruffled around her chest and neck but not in a 'fight or flight' way, just in a numb way
Emotionless eyes

She's acting almost catatonic (no pun intended). When I left for work she was on DS's bed but not curled up like normal. Lying on front, legs tucked in, eyes open and staring.

The most response I got from her was I held out some ham and her eyes almost lit up for a moment then she just turned her head away. I left it with her on her own but she didn't eat it. She loves ham.

I've had cats all my life but never quite seen anything like this.

She was once in a mood with me after I put flea stuff on her - when I got home from work that night she recoiled from me but it only took me 5 minutes to win her round. This is just weird.

As she's acting so out of character and not eating, I'd get her checked by a vet ASAP. Does she have access outside?

Yes she has access to outside. I was going to see how she is when we get back from work as I know these things sometimes come and go.

She didn't seem to be in any pain - she's jumping and moving around fine and I felt around her body. Will definitely ring vet later if she's the same.

She may have been spooked by something, a dog, fox or clipped by a car? If she's no better since this morning, I'd take her to the vet to be checked out.
