Kitten - dry food

Hello,

I recently got a kitten, and already have an adult cat. My adult cat mostly eats dry food (Royal Canin bengal) - though recently she is having wet food pouches too and seems to be doing well on it. The kitten though goes mad for wet food and will eat dry food when it's mixed with the wet, but won't touch her dry kibbles. I'm worried she might get hungry during the day, but it's almost like she doesn't know the dry food is food if that makes sense - she gets excited when it goes in her bowl but then doesn't eat it and keeps looking round and meowing for more. We had a kitten last year (sadly killed by a car just before she turned one) and she ate just dry - we''d rather give them both dry in the morning so they can graze in the day and have wet food in the evening so we can remove it if it's too old. Has anyone experienced this, and got a kitten to eat dry food?

She obviously prefers wet food, so I'd give her that. You could put out wet food in the morning and give her so much time to eat it before it had to be taken up. She'll soon learn that she only has a limited amount of time to eat it. A vet once recommended to me to put a little bit of water on the dry food, to give it a little moisture.

Our kittens were very fussy about dry food - royal canin kitten was the only thing they'd eat - I went through a lot of different sorts before they settled on that. They would just Not Eat. Same for pouches until they settled on what they liked and will not budge now. They were semi-feral farm cats so I have no idea where the fussiness came from.
