Fatty is stoned!

The lovely pinkSparkly's Harry sent my girls some mice for Christmas which they've barely stopped playing with. ( they don't really play at all) so I bought some new ones that arrived today. Never seen Fatty have such a reaction to catnip!

Brilliant! Grin

Sparklingcat sometimes has a really daft reaction to it and other times nothing. I bought some catnip spray and she wasn't that fussed. Sad

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 15/02/2018 20:49

I don’t know what sort of catnip is in those mice but it’s sting stuff! I’m so glad they liked the mice.

Toddlerteaplease · 15/02/2018 20:55

I tried the spray and it didn't work. They play with their other toys for a few days, but then loose interest. These have lasted the longest!

Sparklingcat has a toy box Blush. But her very favourite playthings are drinking straws.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 15/02/2018 21:07

Harry has a basket full of toys! His favourites are the mice, a Christmas pudding and the catnip cushions his cat sitter makes.

TheSecondOfHerName · 15/02/2018 22:16

This kickeroo and a couple of other toys are stored in a plastic box with a tea infuser full of loose-leaf catnip. I get one of the toys out once or twice a week. Smile

I read somewhere that catnip can be reactivated by putting the toys in the microwave. Is it true?

TheSecondOfHerName · 15/02/2018 22:34

It works well if the toy only contains catnip. If it's also stuffed with synthetic toy stuffing, it ends up smelling like burnt polyester rather than catnip.

LanguidLobster · 15/02/2018 22:40

Where do you get these things?

I'd love to see mine stoned and happy rather than haughtily barking out commands!

TheSecondOfHerName · 15/02/2018 22:42

For the really good stuff, it's worth trying to get hold of the North American strains.

TheSecondOfHerName · 15/02/2018 22:45

I bought 5g sample bags from three different sellers on eBay and then tried them out on her.

EachandEveryone · 16/02/2018 01:54

Where did you get the mice from?

Toddlerteaplease · 16/02/2018 06:17

Molly's mice came downstairs to find them both guarding a mouse each!

LanguidLobster · 16/02/2018 06:23

Toddler you're going to have to decipher that for me! (Maybe it's too early and I'm being a bit fick.)

So someone called Molly had a mouse who came downstairs and caught your cats playing with their mice??

Gatekeeper · 16/02/2018 06:29

We have various catmint planta in the garden but this is Sherlock's favourite. On summers days he lies amongst it for hours on end

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 16/02/2018 07:15

The make of the mice is Mollys Mice and they are on Amazon - mice

Vinorosso74 · 16/02/2018 08:10

I think I'll order some!
We used to have a complete stoner of a cat-a slightly chubby tabby. He would spend hours licking a catnip cigar, if you put catnip out he would eat it.
We got burgled once and they pulled the drawers out and the catnip was everywhere, cat was completely out if it until we could clear up.

Toddlerteaplease · 16/02/2018 08:57

Grammar fail! BlushBlushThey are from a company called Molly's mice. I came downstairs to find both cats gaurding a mouse each.

gatekeeper

yes to catmint ! GrumpyOldCat isn't fussed about catnip, but loves the cat mint. I should try to dry it... (we have a ot in the yard).

EachandEveryone · 16/02/2018 20:37

How long do they last for though? I often find my go nuts for five minutes and then never go back to them.

Toddlerteaplease · 16/02/2018 21:42

They were given the first lot for Christmas abd are still playing with them. That is a record!

Ernie loves his King Catnip 'fish'...it's a bit grubby so will have to get him a new one. It's in the living room at the moment but it has found it's way outdoors. He also loves Yeoww ones and tore at his stocking to get at one we bought

He turns his nose up at the catmint I planted for him...ungrateful sod

TheSecondOfHerName · 16/02/2018 23:02

The effect wears off after a few minutes, so I take the toy away, put it in an airtight container and get it out another day.

LanguidLobster · 16/02/2018 23:05

That sounds brilliant, I'll get one of these Molly mice, thanks!
