What happened to my kitty cat?

This bald patch appeared under my cat's armpit at some point today

He's using his leg fine, lets me touch it, is eating and drinking, up to date with worming, fleas and vaccinations

What's happened to his fur?

Bite/ fight injury?

Over grooming due to stress? Bite? Allergy?

Needs a quick trip to the vet really, poor chap. Give his little chin a stroke from me.

He does love a chin stroke

Hi OP, ours did things like this at times - is there a wire fence or gap he might have squeezed through somewhere on his territory?

The neighbours are having an extension so loads of bits of kit around

Vet checked it, said not inflamed or showing any signs of irritation -starting to grow back already
