Kitten weeing/pooing in the lounge

So we have a 10 week old male tabby, got him at 8 weeks. Lovely little fellow, playful and cuddly and supercute, everything you'd want in a cat. We are totally smitten. However, he likes to go to the loo behind the telly.

We keep him confined to the lounge & conservatory currently, and he has 2 litter trays in opposite corners of the conservatory, and he has got the hang of using them quite quickly. He also has a cat tower, an igloo bed, his food and a bunch of toys in there as well - all at the other side of the conservatory to the litter trays.

As long as we shut him in the conservatory when we aren't there, all business is where it should be. BUT given free run to the lounge, he will also try to go behind the telly (as well as using the litter trays). As soon as I see him go behind I lift him up and place him in one of the litter trays. He then happily does his wee or whatever, but will still try to go there again on another occasion.

Any tips to dissuade him from this area? I've got some stain and odour remover stuff which whilst it takes the smell away, doesn't affect his behaviour at all.

Obligatory photos attached of course!

We've got tinfoil behind our tv to stop 'exploring'. We look like mad conspiracy theorists but at least it's clean behind there now. Apparently kitties don't like the sound or feel of it under their paws.

Forgot to say, I tried some peppermint oil on a tissue, but he was massively unbothered by it! Also rubbed the area with lime rind and lemon rind, again zero effect.

Gorgeous boy too!

As in flat on the floor Iklboo ? I'm willing to try, but one of his fave toys is a homemade ball of tinfoil attached to a string suspended from one of the chairs in the conservatory!

Thank you!

Tinfoil on the floor worked for us too. Behind the sofa in our case. Kitten soon got the message.

Adorable kitty BTW.

His smell is there I'm afraid. You need to get rid of the scent there or he will keep being drawn to it

Sort of like this - not flat but large pieces kind of scrunched a bit.
