Smelly cat

My cat is getting quite old now, and doesn't wash her self very well.
Most recently, it's starting to smell quite strong in the house, despite constantly cleaning the litter tray etc etc. It makes me feel quite ill tbh.
Is there anything you use, on your old cats? Without having to put the poor things in water? Thanks

Has her mouth been checked? It sounds like a bad teeth/gum problem.

Like pp said it could be mouth, sometimes cats with kidney disease get a very distinct smell. You can wipe her down with a warm flannel, get some cat shampoo and gently give her a wash.

It says "water free" which is a but misleading, as it's very wet IYSWIM, but you squirt it over the cat, rub it in, then towel off.

Hi thank you for your comments. She's just been to Vets recently and they didn't say anything about kidney's. I think it's definitely old age and not being able to wash in certain places. Will check out the link. Smile

Give her a gentle comb and a little wipe down with a warm damp cloth. Clean her bottom and ask the vet to check her mouth.
