She doesn't love me any more! Wail!

Since we got our new little kittens, our older cat (who was a rescue and has come a long way since being very nervy and jumpy when we first had her) won't let me anywhere near her!

Introductions between her and the kittens are happening very, very gradually, we are keeping them separate but she is aware of them, and is getting noticeably less nervous of coming near where they are etc. We're scent-swapping slowly and making sure she comes in for fuss and attention when they're not around. Just the past two days we've done an hour each evening when they're all three loose in the house at the same time, and she'll come within a couple of feet of them without hissing or growling. Her food and water etc are completely separate from the kittens'. She's eating normally and is OK with dh, but she seems to be blaming ME entirely for the disruption to her life, she won't let me stroke her or come to my call like she used to Sad she just doesn't seem to like me any more!

What can I do to get back my bond with her?

She'll forgive you! Give her time...

BulletFox · 31/01/2018 22:21

She'll come around. Judicious bribing usage of Dreamies might facilitate the process

AnnaMagnani · 31/01/2018 22:27

Bribe her with food.

Are mine the only cats who think Dreamies are crap?

BulletFox · 31/01/2018 22:32

Anna I did read someone else saying their cat was impervious to Dreamies might have been you!

Greensleeves · 31/01/2018 23:02

I do have some crack Dreamies, I will try and tempt her! She's being very standoffish though, she came in ust now and bunted dh's legs lovingly, swished her tail around them, then gave me a hard stare and stalked out Sad

Oh wow Greensleeves, she's really playing it!

I think you may have to go hardcore and aloof, two can play that game. Practise throwing the evils in the bathroom mirror
